Police in the Brong Ahafo Region have arrested five recruits for
using forged documents to apply for recruitment into the Ghana
Police Service (GPS). The suspects were found to have forged either
academic or birth certificates. “We have therefore detained them and
will hand them over to the Criminal Investigations Department for
further investigations,” Chief Inspector Augustine the Regional Police
PRO said.
Chief Inspector Oppong said so far dates of birth; ages and senior high school (SHS) certificate grading, and other document have been interpreted while others do not match and that is what experts who look at them tell us and advise accordingly.”
The body selection screening exercise by the Ghana police service is currently ongoing across the country with the Brong Ahafo one being held at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
He said body selection has a lot of definitions, one of them is height. Females must be 5 feet 4 inches tall and men should be 5 feet 8 inches in height to be considered before the issue of documentation comes in.
The Brong Ahafo Regional police public relations officer, said age is important in the documentation as this year the age bracket for consideration is 18-24. Meanwhile, about 6,932 applicants are expected to be processed in the Brong Ahafo Region alone. The exercise is expected to end on 4th February.
